Spiritual Institutions
Affiliated to Malankara Jacobite Syrian Sundayschool Association, St. Thomas Sunday School Attarikom possess a rich history of struggles and survivals. Without the support of a parent church, this institution stood as the heartthrobe of the children from the christian families of Attarikom. The growth of the sundayschool from zero to great heights is a history that must be written in golden scripts.
Sunday school was conducted in the Youth League library building for long time with limited space and facilities. Most of the classes were taken outdoors, which was challenging during the rainy season. Teachers and students holding umbrellas while sitting in the class was a common sight during rain season.
In the 1970s when the church feud was at its peak, following the events like the denial of visa for H.G. Mor. Aphrem Aboodi, a group of spirited Jacobite youth in and around Omalloor joined hands to form a new youth movement based at Omalloor Market. They named the youth in the name of Mor Aphrem Aboodi and this movement continued to be one of the most spirited youth movement in the area.
H.G Yuhanon Mor Milithiose, Fr. Elias George etc were members of this youth association. But unfortunately the youth couldnt move further after the 90's when the newer generation couldnt take up the responsibility handed over by the forefathers. But later in 2005, the youth was reorganizedand affiliated under Malankara Jacobite Youth Association.
Friday Prayer Meeting
Weekly prayer meeting is conducted on all Fridays at the Church. Invited Priests leads the prayer.
Monthly Prayer Meeting
Monthly prayer meeting is conducted on the last Sunday at the houses of the faithful.
