About us
St. Thomas Syriac Orthodox Church, Attarikom, Omalloor is a church under the Thumpamon Diocese of Syriac Orthodox Church under the Holy See of Antioch and all the East. The history of the church starts from the history of St. Thomas Sunday School, a bible school affiliated to MJSSA which was started in 1980's by the Jacobite christian families near Attarikom and Omalloor, who found it difficult to send their children to the Sunday school at their home parish Manjinikkara. The Sunday school started as a small initiative, but as time progressed it evolved as one of the outstanding centers of bible teaching and liturgy. The Sunday school reached new heights year after year. Award for the best Sunday school in MJSSA Balakalotsavam 2013 and Runner up in 2014 are just glimpses of the enviable records of the Sunday school. The Sunday school was functioning in the youth league library building with limited space. The class rooms were always outdoors.
In 2014, the long time wish of the natives of Attarikom came into fulfillment when Mr. Joyce, Kottuppilethu purchased the land towards the North of the Youth league library and gave it for construction of a worship center. The construction started under the guidance of Fr. Elias George, Cheriathu and with the contribution of many good hearts. H.G Yuhanon Mor Milithiose consecrated the worship center on 2nd June, 2014 in the name of St. Thomas, the Apostle of India, as St. Thomas Patriarchal Center. Holy Qurbana was allowed on all Saturdays and Fr. Elias George was given the charge of the worship center.
